The $42 million Academic Health Center 4 building (also known as the Science Classroom Complex) provides FIU with advanced research labs, a 10,000-square-foot transgenic space, BSL2 labs, flexible research space, study rooms for graduate students, offices, and faculty/student gathering spaces that promote collaborative work. Disciplines within the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Computing, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Public Health and Social Work will utilize the facility’s laboratories, lecture halls, student study spaces and vivarium. The design provides state-of the-art lab and research space which are fully flexible, permitting departments to expand and contract as needed and provides cutting-edge core facilities capable of supporting present and future research trends and needs.
