When the University of Georgia was planning to renovate and expand the Tate Student Center in Athens, Georgia, Waveguide was tasked with providing technology and design services for the 95,000-square-foot addition containing a 12,000-square-foot multipurpose room that can be divided into seven separate meeting rooms, each with its own audio system. Rooms are combinable with one configuration supporting lecture-style seating for up to 1,400 attendees. Additionally, the Tate Student Center has five meeting rooms, a dining room with AV presentation and audio conferencing, and an atrium with multiple displays and a 1,600-square-foot special events area. Waveguide designed the master control system with audio and video routing and management for the addition as well as the existing 100,000-square-foot student center building. This project achieved LEED Gold certification and was the first LEED Certified project on the University of Georgia’s campus.
