Long Beach City College’s new Building V on the Long Beach Liberal Arts Campus houses the school’s mathematics and culinary arts departments. The $52.1 million, 77,000-square-foot facility received an Award of Merit in the Project Design category by the 2012 Community College Coalition (CCFC) Professional Awards Program; the design focuses heavily on sustainability and is targeting a LEED Platinum designation. Technologies include audiovisual systems for large format video and computer image display, media sound reproduction, instructor/presenter voice amplification, audio/video recording and distribution, distance learning, and audio and videoconferencing.
