The new Roberts Pavilion is a 132,000-square-foot athletics and events center located on the campus of Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. Waveguide provided consulting and design for the project’s audiovisual, data and communications infrastructure, security and acoustics. The building design aims to balance the goals of sports, education and environmental sustainability. The building’s main arena is a flexible facility supporting athletic practice and competition for the college’s basketball and volleyball programs. The 2,200-seat arena also serves as a multipurpose event venue for the entire college and the local community. Other facilities in the building include a 10,000-square-foot fitness studio, a practice gym, a sports medicine facility, as well as variety of conference and meeting rooms. The building’s sophisticated technology infrastructure and systems enable data networking, communications, and physical security. Audiovisual and media presentation systems throughout the building support general business activities and operations, athletic training and competition, special events and academic instruction.
