Augusta University’s $62 million, 172,000-square-foot J. Harold Harrison, M.D., Medical Education Commons provides classroom and teaching labs for dentistry, medical and nursing students. The medical building opened in fall 2014 and offers collaborative teaching and experiential learning throughout a number of high-tech spaces that include two 300-seat auditoriums, two 150-seat classrooms, 13 small group classrooms and a 42,000-square-foot simulation center. Waveguide provided audiovisual, information technology and acoustics consulting for the project. The project required careful consideration of the building’s designs to optimize room acoustics throughout the building, including in two architecturally complex auditoria.
