Waveguide Introduces Wavelet

Posted and filed under News.

Waveguide recently rolled out our new manufacturer-distributor portal, Wavelet. The intent of Wavelet is to give all bidders a fair opportunity to bid your product by providing transparent access to information on Waveguide bids, which may be extracted for your forecasting and record use. Initial bid information will be searchable by date, Waveguide project manager and city. The information on Wavelet includes the name and city of the project, name and location of the integrators invited to bid (if known at the time of bid), and a general contact form. The bid information is posted the same week, and often the same day as the project goes out to bid. The bid due date will not be included on Wavelet, but is easily attainable from one of the listed bidders.  Also included is a comprehensive list of products used by Waveguide design team members as the basis for design. Any updates to quantities and model numbers that are the result of the RFI process will not be reflected on the website.

We are proud of this new system of sharing information with manufacturers, and we hope it will be very useful to bidders on Waveguide projects. If you have any questions or if you would like to obtain Wavelet credentials for your company, please contact Harry Allison.

Welcome to Wavelet!

“This classroom is great with technology. Everything is in sync. The professor can incorporate Web videos or documents into the lecture because we have a great projector and a big screen for everyone to see. There are outlets for laptops, and it’s a big space with windows for natural light, which is nice when you’re spending so much time in a classroom like this.”—Patrick, University of Notre Dame law student

Los Angeles Opens Grand Park

LOS ANGELES, July 26, 2012…Today the city welcomed the opening of the first two blocks of Grand Park, a new public green space in the Grand Avenue Corridor of downtown Los Angeles. Grand Park was conceived as a way to support downtown revitalization and is celebrated as a major milestone in that effort.

After undergoing a $56-million renovation, the 12-acre park–situated along Grand Avenue and within Instagram-ing distance of iconic Los Angeles art and architecture, including City Hall and the previously obscured Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain–now provides a visually arresting community gathering place where visitors can take “respite from the grind of city life.” Grand Park was designed with the goal of using technology to turn this public space into a dynamic urban media environment, creating an engaging sense of place for all its visitors.

Waveguide is proud to have contributed to this landmark project.

Mr. STEP Goes to Washington

Posted and filed under News, Sustainability.

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 17, 2012….This morning the Sustainable Technology Environments Program (STEP) rating system, which Waveguide president Scott Walker helped create, made its official Washington, D.C., debut. As part of High-Performance Building Week (May 14-19, 2012), the U.S. House of Representatives High-Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition heard a presentation on the STEP rating system from several members of the STEP Foundation Board. Scott was there to address questions from caucus representatives and other interested industry partners (and to see his baby shine).

This meeting was the first stage in the process of getting the STEP rating system recognized by the federal government, much the way LEED is mandated on federal building projects. Mae Stevens, legislative assistant to caucus co-chair Rep. Russ Carnahan (D, MO-3), suggested that the STEP Foundation propose legislation pertaining to the adoption and recognition of STEP. This comment was a positive outcome of STEP’s introduction to Congress.
